Businesses and commercial properties across the nation suffer thefts and burglaries every day. While the overall numbers have, fortunately, decreased since the 1990s, the actual numbers are still disturbing.

In 2019, for example, the FBI compiled property crime statistics including larceny/theft and burglaries that occurred that year.

There were 1,117,696 burglaries committed in 2019, and a stunning 5,086,096 acts of theft or larceny carried out the same year. That adds up to almost 17,000 thefts against properties every day.

Or another way to consider it: that’s almost 12 acts of theft or burglary every 12 minutes.

Property Crime and the Need for Security to Protect Your Business and Property

As civilians and business owners, we tend to use the terms theft, larceny, and burglary more or less interchangeably. However, they each have a distinct legal meaning.

For example, an attorney website noted the following definitions,

Theft is taking someone’s property with the intent of permanently depriving the owner of its use. It typically involves money or physical belongings… If the value of the property exceeds a threshold defined by the local jurisdiction, the theft may be classified as grand theft, which is often a felony, and the penalties may increase significantly.

Similar to theft, larceny is the taking of property with the intent of depriving the owner of its use. Petty or simple larceny is usually a misdemeanor and involves theft of property less than the local threshold for grand larceny, while grand larceny is typically a felony.

Burglary involves breaking into and entering a structure in order to commit a crime, such as theft. Breaking and entering does not necessarily require a window to be broken or a lock to be picked—the offender can enter through an unlocked opening or even with a key. The theft or other crime need not be successful for the crime of burglary to be charged.

Whatever you choose to call it, suffering a loss of cash or property as a business owner feels the same regardless of which specific category of crime took place.

And an ineffective security process is often the passive culprit that “aids and abets” criminals that target businesses and commercial properties. A noticeable lack of video surveillance cameras, for example, is practically an invitation to steal for some criminals. And having security cameras both inside and out can provide several benefits.

For example, here are some of the advantages of having indoor camera systems, as well:

  • Theft Control: If someone steals from your business, you have a means to possibly identify them. You can also use your system to monitor employee theft.
  • Safety: Security cameras inside your business can help deter harassment or acts of workplace violence. If an incident does happen, you will have evidence for the police.
  • Insurance Benefits: In some cases, having an indoor and outdoor security system may reduce your business insurance premiums.
  • Liability Protection: If you are involved in a wrongful lawsuit, you may be able to use security camera footage to support your case.

Static Video Cameras Are Not Enough, However

The harsh truth about traditional video surveillance cameras is that they are passive tools for recording video footage. Their presence can act as a deterrent to an extent, but they can do nothing to prevent a crime.

And there is little else that is as frustrating as being the victim of theft and only being able to watch what happened after the fact. You may have captured a good view of the perpetrator, and maybe even a license plate. But the theft has already occurred and it’s typically unlikely that the criminal or criminals will be caught.

An ideal solution is a video camera system that can be used to monitor every area of a property, providing hi-def surveillance 24/7. Better yet, it can also stop criminal actions by deterring thieves, trespassers, and other unauthorized individuals, proactively and in real-time.

In other words, a video camera network is far more than a passive recording system.

Blue Eye’s proprietary solution can accomplish that for your business or property. With our system, your cameras act as sensors that are enabled to detect potential threats in real-time.

In addition, your security camera can then alert our remote video monitoring staff who can react in real-time to deter potential crimes. These remote monitors can see the actual threat to the property in real-time and assess the situation to take appropriate action.

Instead of a passive set of video cameras recording data, you can have an intelligent, remote video monitoring security system that can protect your business and property.

Live Remote Video Monitoring for Your Security Camera System

Our unique and proprietary remote video system solution uses both artificial intelligence (AI) and human interaction. This combination in real-time provides a safe and reliable security solution that utilizes your existing security cameras. If, however, you don’t have cameras yet, you want to upgrade them, or want more of them, we can assist you in finding the optimum installation solution.

It is with Blue Eyes’ unique AI software that allows your video cameras to detect potential threats to your business property. And our hi-tech system alerts our professionally trained Video Surveillance Technicians (VSTs) within seconds who then react in real-time to prevent potential crimes.

Our VSTs act as a human video monitoring staff that can utilize loudspeakers installed with your cameras to allow them to give verbal warnings to intervene with threats.

In our Command Center, our team of VSTs utilize our CV, or Computer Vision, assisted technology to protect your business and property. And it’s here that our VSTs receive alarms and employ real-time responses for a wide variety of businesses and properties.

Although our client’s properties are located across the globe, each individual alarm can be assessed live, in real-time, and can be responded to according to that business or property owner’s desired protocol.

It is this customized approach that provides each of our clients with the ability to adapt their security system to meet the unique needs of their business and their facility.
