The cannabis industry is booming despite challenges and setbacks from both federal and local government agencies.

According to Forbes magazine, citing a study conducted and published by cannabis market researcher New Frontier Data,

With 10 newly legalized states slated to begin selling cannabis in 2021 or 2022, the legal market is projected to pull in $43 billion by 2025.

The report finds that 141 million Americans, or 43% of the adult population, reside in 18 adult-use states, “representing a diverse and widely distributed consumer base for retailers to segment and target.” And by 2025, 42% of the total annual U.S. cannabis demand is projected to be met by legal purchases in regulated marketplaces. This is a 24% jump from 2020.

The article goes on to note that by 2025, 5.4 million Americans, or 2.4 percent of all adults in the U.S., will be registered patients in medical cannabis states.

Earlier this year, MJBizDaily reported that,

The total U.S. economic impact from marijuana sales in 2021 is expected to reach $92 billion – up more than 30% from last year – and upwards of $160 billion in 2025, according to analysis from the newly published MJBizFactbook.

And the website FInancesOnline.com noted several encouraging statistics for cannabis dispensary owners and investors,

Florida and Oklahoma are the most rapidly growing cannabis markets in the US with sales expected to exceed $1 billion each by the end of 2021. Meanwhile, the US states with the most cannabis sales as of 2020 are California ($3.8 billion), Colorado ($1.7 billion), and Michigan (1.21 billion).

However, a high-value commodity and a largely cash-based transactional business model means a high-security risk endeavor for owners.

Taking Video Surveillance to a New Level for a Smart Security Solution

It goes without saying that almost every cannabis dispensary and other cannabis-related facilities rely heavily on CCTV and other forms of video surveillance for their security needs. In addition to these passive security measures, uniformed and often armed security guards are common in most cannabis dispensaries and shops.

But even an on-site security officer has limitations when it comes to providing comprehensive security and surveillance. And almost every video camera system is limited to merely recording video footage.

Yet the need for high-level security is pressing and persistent.

Cannabis dispensaries need far more than simple security systems that are ultimately passive and ineffective for deterring and preventing burglaries and theft.

One of the challenges faced by most cannabis facilities is the resistance from residents and local municipalities to the nature of their product – and its perceived and often real potential for spurring criminal activity.

As one Forbes article commented,

In Sonoma County, which is around 100 miles outside San Francisco, some officials are complaining that all of this legal weed business has done nothing for their community but spawn “home invasions, violent crimes, and robberies,” according to a report from the Cloverdale Reveille.

It seems that bad mama jamas from the East Coast are traveling across the country with the sole intention of using the Golden State’s legal marijuana status to run a racket of extreme thievery. These types of crimes have become a common occurrence in the areas of Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Petaluma. The goal of these criminal organizations, the report reads, is to get their hands on marijuana, by any means necessary, and then transport it back to the east coast for sale on the black market.

What is needed for improving traditional, or standard, video surveillance security systems in a high-tech, “smart” solution – namely, live remote video monitoring that is enhanced with AI, or artificial intelligence.

Make Your Security Camera System a Live Remote Video Monitoring Solution

At Blue Eye, our unique and proprietary remote video monitoring solution uses both artificial intelligence (AI) and human interaction. It’s this combination, operating in real-time, that provides a safe and reliable security solution utilizing your existing security cameras.

If you want to upgrade your video cameras or want to have more of them, we can assist you in finding the optimum installation solution.

With Blue Eye’s unique AI software your video cameras can detect potential threats to your business property. And our hi-tech system alerts our professionally trained Video Surveillance Technicians (VSTs) within seconds who then react in real-time to prevent potential crimes.

Our VSTs act as a human video surveillance staff that can utilize loudspeakers installed on your property to allow them to give verbal warnings to intervene with threats.

In our Command Center, our team of VSTs utilize our CV, or Computer Vision, assisted technology to protect your business and property. And it’s here that our VSTs receive alarms and employ real-time responses for a wide variety of businesses and properties.

Our client’s properties are located across the globe, yet each individual alarm can be assessed live, in real-time, and can be responded to according to that client’s desired protocol.

It is this customized approach that provides each of our clients with the ability to adapt their security systems to meet the unique needs of their business and their facility.
